The first story of Dark Veritas revolves around the idea of vampirism and the pressures of virginity in this urban fantasy paranormal romance short story. Dark Veritas features stories about an Earth of undead possibility. When asked about Vampire Virgin, Joeseph responded: "Stories about vampires have always embraced the subject of virginity. The puncture of the hymen and of the neck both involves pain, blood and transformation. Sometimes brutal, other times erotic, often romantic. Everything changes afterwards. That has always been at the back of my mind, playing with thoughts and tinkering with ideas. Introducing the reader to Patrick and Mary on a night that I'm sure everyone can relate to: a night of longing and making choices. That brief moment of hesitation before embarking on that path of the choice made. This story is that moment for both Patrick and Mary."
