The protecting of hearts with armor led to the Shield Series made from old automobile hoods. The etched surface has been cut, welded and mended. Hopefully, the scars are healed by the passage of time. Circles are often seen as symbols of wholeness, or completeness, while containing the many different pieces of our disjointed lives. These circles were welded together with many different kinds of metal. I see the vertical wood pieces as plants growing and reaching for momentary connections to something higher and lighter and less fragmented.
