The focus of fourth grade music is harmony, pitches arranged vertically into chords. Appropriate terminology is presented, and harmonic concepts are explored through instrumental projects and song. We use the autoharps to learn accompaniments from guitar notation. We sing in two and three parts. In collaboration with the classroom social studies units, we explore music from the middle East and Asia. We do this through song, videotape, listening activities, instrumental projects, games, and dance.
