The patterns of light created by carnival rides in motion is fascinating to me. Complex shapes and woven strands of color are revealed through long exposure photography. The images in this book were taken over a period of a several years with a variety of cameras, both film and digital. There is a lot of patience and a little bit of luck in capturing these photographs. Most exposures are several seconds and finding a position to setup the necessary tripod can be challenging on crowded fairgrounds. When the composition and timing on the part of the photographer sync up with the movement of the ride the results can be quite beautiful. I hope you enjoy this collection of images as much I enjoyed creating them.
