Knitting for me has always been a process of exploration. When I was first introduced to Estonian lace, I was smitten. A love affair with Estonian stitches began, and through the years I have continued to improve my understanding of Estonian stitches while adapting them to more modern knitting techniques.

This shawl was a long time in the making. The pattern was written and re-written several times and my tentative rows ripped and reknit until finally, Meryl was ready for its debut.

This pattern is meant for an adventurous novice knitter or a more experienced mid-level knitter as the chart can be difficult to follow.

Both written and charted directions are included in this pattern. Please read the entire pattern before beginning.

Yarn: 1/2 Skein Briar Rose Fibers Angel Face, approx. 1250 yards, 100% Alpaca, approx. 1100 yards used Alternative yarns: Shown in Cascade Alpaca Lace Handpaints, 2 skeins, 974 yards total, 100 % Alpaca, River Moss (less length, same width)
