Attracted by the detailed descriptions of inmates, especially of their teeth, Patricia Sahertian creates the series “PRISONERS”. Beginning with old mug shot photos of inmates at McNeil Island Penitentiary from the early 1900s, she uses acrylic paint directly on photo paper to recreate these miniature three by three inch portraits.
