5FOR5 was inspired by the seemingly busy people that walk past my office every day. They moved so fast; I wondered what would happen if they could “Take 5.” That’s what inspired me—5 minutes. Like the way 5 fingers share a common base but extend in distinct directions, I wondered about the possibility of 5. I was intrigued to learn the stories of people who shared nothing but the temporary geographic space around my office storefront. I offered 5 dollars for 5 minutes, that’s all. In this window I captured a portrait, and collected a 5-question questionnaire. Now I invite all sorts of people who share this common base to a portrait that reveals all the directions that 5 minutes and 5 questions can take you. A break to discover: this is the fascination in taking 5.
