Fencing is a personal passion of mine. When I was younger I used to take lessons at the NOAC on N Rampart. The sport is very much like playing chess, with the constant need to contiue to predict and stay 3 steps ahead of your opponent. Many are unaware that New Orleans was once a major hub for Fencing in the United States. With notable fencers such as Andrew Jackson and Jean Laffite just to name a few. My goal for this series is to help inspire readers to give the sport a try and help rebirth the fencing culture in NOLA and other regions!
