Inside these pages are 28 selected paintings by award-winning artist Mary Rush. Her artistic interests are color, nature, and experimentation.

Rush created these paintings in 2021, and they represent an experimental period in her artistic adventures. Abstract expressionist Helen Frankenthaler developed a new technique. A long-time admirer of her work, Rush embarked upon a study into the life and art world of Frankenthaler. Six months of practicing the soak-stain method gave way to creating a series of paintings based on that process. The dynamic series has captured the essence of nature in flowers but with an explosive abstract expression. There are other works that employ that formula.

Having a love of nature, Rush paints outside often. Rush shows some of her plein-air paintings inside too.

And there are a couple of paintings that are abstract using another new to Rush’s media vocabulary of gluing torn paper onto the wood. And then painting over it creates a textured ground.
