Feed Lot Road lies in the Galisteo Basin, a vast flat plain grazed to dust by cattle and subject to high winds, sand storms, and drought. The open landscape with its fringe of mountains is cowboy-movie fodder. I began photographing there in the middle of a dust storm. Photographically the place proved irresistible, the day of the storm and for many days afterwards. These are images of stockyards, feed silos, cattle, birds and New Mexico.
