This work spans March 16-May 11, 2020. It's the time between Anchorage, Alaska, municipal emergency orders EO-01 “lockdown” and EO-09 “Recovery phase 1” in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. For nearly two months, as winter relented to a slow-in-coming Alaska spring, my wife, teenage son, and I stayed home. Light exercise, curbside pickup of groceries, and an occasional drive-thru meal were the only reasons we left the house. We looked to each other for support, strength, and entertainment as a global health crisis made its way into our community.

These images were mostly photographed and developed the same day using a daylight developing tank in the kitchen sink with the chemicals I had on hand. For those who care about minutiae, they were almost exclusively taken with a 1952 Leica iiif rangefinder and 1950 5cm Summitar f/2 lens on Ilford HP5 Plus 400 black and white film.
