Susan Weil’s longest running daily art project has been her “poemumbles.” Starting on May 11, 1984, she began writing a poem and creating an accompanying visual artwork, everyday. The poems are personal musings – sometimes prosaic, sometimes profound. Although she has taken short breaks a couple of times in the last few years, she has kept it up to this day. As of this writing, in the summer of 2020, she has written 11,572 poems! But she’s not about the numbers; she hadn’t counted them until I asked her. She’s too focused on the challenge and joy of creation to bother with numbers. This marvelous collection of best hits from her many years of daily poem writing beautifully communicates her wonderment with the creative process and the miracle of being a cognizant being in the giant, art-filled, bedazzling universe.
