This photo essay focuses on the landscapes of the Ancestral Pueblo sites in and around Chaco Canyon in nortwestern New Mexico. The 1000 year old ‘Great Houses’ are amonst the most fascinating structures in prehistoric North America. The landscapes of Chaco Canyon are just as important as the Great Houses themselves. Unfortunately these landscapes are threatened by current and proposed mineral extraction activity.
