Just Google “Morocco Photos”, and you will find thousands of images; almost all in highly (and many times over-) saturated color. They are about grabbing the viewer’s attention with the color; that much saturated color will get a viewer’s attention…for awhile. But after a short time, the images grow tiring; fatigue sets in. John Ricca has never had a desire to produce mages that other photographers have already made. (He, actually, has produced a book with color photographs of Morocco, but the images are more unusual than most and definitely less saturated.) Nevertheless, John has always loved black and white photographs, because he likes the shapes, patterns, and textures that can make a wonderful image. In those cases, color can be a distraction. Hence, this book.
