Historically Black Colleges and Universities or HBCUs represent a very different culture to traditional colleges and universities. Their uniqueness is enjoyed by those who experience it as evident by participants and those who witness movies and television shows based on the subject. However, mainstream media seemingly downplays it, especially in athletics. This is disconcerting since greats like Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Michael Strahan, Willis Reed, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, and Edwin Moses all starred among the best all-time in collegiate and pros. This publication seeks to show a little of the difference between HBCU and PWI culture and why HBCUs should be a serious consideration for prospective students.
