THE NATURE OF THE BEAST is an epic photography project by Thomas Alleman. The subject of this collection is the topography of Los Angeles. This volume publishes the first two of four portfolios that will comprise that project: FLORA and RIVER. The tough, vibrant desert fauna that bubbles up through the seams and cracks in the city's built environment is demonstrated in FLORA, while the strange world of the LA River is shown in RIVER.
