The Sun, The Snow was inspired by not just one poem but actually by two written by my friend Barbara Brown. Barbara asked me to play guitar on a broadcast from the Adelphi University radio station WBAU 90.3 FM back in the mid 70's. She was asked to do a live poetry reading on the radio station and instead of using generic background music, opted to have a musician play live in the studio while she read her poems. I was the guitar playing musician friend she asked. This was the fourth and fifth poems read on the air. Most of what I played as background on guitar was memorized so I have nothing written out of what I played. Some years ago, I found the poems packed away amongst some old High School stuff. I decided to work on new music to go with each of them and this is a result. The music inspired by Barbara's poems The Sun and The Snow were written on August 20, 2016. The full title of this piece of music I've written is The Sun, The Snow - Opus #24.
