Someone to Ride the River With A Survey of MFA photography students from the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and the University of New Mexico

“Someone to ride the river with,” a saying used in the Western United States during the late 1800s, referred to a person who could be counted on, someone who was reliable. In the spirit of this adage, MFA photography students in the Southwest are banding together to form a network through which they can provide support and help one another to navigate the uncertain waters of academia and the art world. This exhibition showcases work from current graduate students in the photo programs at three major universities in the Southwest. Opening at the Lionel Rombach Gallery in Tucson, AZ, in conjunction with the Society for Photographic Education's Southwest and West joint regional conference, the show then moved to the Harry Wood Gallery in Tempe, AZ and will close at the Center for Fine Arts Downtown Studio in Albuquerque, NM.
