JANET DELANEY (janetdelaney)

Janet Delaney received her MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1981. She is the recipient of three grants from the National Endowment for the Arts as well as the Phelan Award in Photography. Her photographs are in numerous collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and have been published and exhibited both locally and internationally. Since 2000, she has held a continuing position in photography in the Visual Studies program at the University of California at Berkeley. In March of 2011 Delaney was invited to curate the first exhibition of contemporary photography in New Delhi, India. In August of that year she exhibited her Between Chaos and Grace portfolio in China. Her artwork has involved complex documentary projects about urban redevelopment and civil war, personal abstract narratives about family life and an exploration of wilderness as a state of mind.
