How do I format an APO or FPO address?

Sending a package to an overseas U.S. military base is relatively straightforward if you keep a few things in mind.

  1. Overseas U.S. military bases are considered domestic (U.S.) shipments, which means you need to select United States as the ship-to country. Do not select the country where the base is located.
  2. The city should always be either "APO" or "FPO" in a properly formatted APO FPO address.
  3. Please choose “Armed Forces (AE)” as the State option for the following:
    • Armed Forces Europe
    • Armed Forces Middle East
    • Armed Forces Africa
    • Armed Forces Canada

You also have the option of Armed Forces (AA) and Armed Forces (AP).

Here is an example of a properly formatted APO address:

Name: PFC Jack Lyon
Address 1: 23rd Battalion
Address 2: Unit 1234, Box 56789
Country: United States
City: APO
State: AP
Zip/Postal Code: 96522-1215
