Create: How to Publish
How to Publish
Publishing on MagCloud is easy! All you need to get started is a MagCloud username and a PDF file. The size of your PDF file will depend on the publication you want to create, as shown in the slides above. We've listed some general instructions for creating a MagCloud-ready PDF at the bottom of the page, but we also encourage you to take a look at our PDF Guides for step-by-step instructions to create a PDF in a variety of software programs.
How to Publish
Publishing on MagCloud is as easy as 1-2-3. Simply upload a multi-page PDF of your publication. Select your layout, binding and distribution options. Publish in print and digital format for speedy delivery. Print orders can arrive as fast as 3 business days and digital versions are available immediately.
Step1: Sign In
Sign in with your MagCloud username. If you don't have a username, click here to sign up.
Step 2: Create a New Publication
In the Publish tab, click the button to Create New Publication and enter
a name for your publication.
Step 3: Upload Your PDF
If you need help creating a PDF, check out our PDF Guides.
Step 4: Preview and Set Binding Options
All text should be within the unshaded safe zone, and images you want to extend to the edge of the page should fill the bleed area (shaded blue). Binding options will vary based on the size and length of your PDF. At this point, you can finish and buy copies in print, or continue to set your selling options for the MagCloud storefront.
Step 5: Set Your Distribution Options
Add a description, tags and a category to help people find your publication. Add a markup beyond the print cost to earn money for every copy purchased, and choose to offer a digital version of your publication for free or for a price.
Step 6: Publish and Promote
Your publication can be Unlisted and visible only to you and those you send a guest pass to, or it can be Listed and publicly visible on the MagCloud site. If your publication is public, promote it after publishing via social media channels, email, or with badges for your blog or website.
General PDF Guidelines
- The trim can vary slightly, so full page images should fill the bleed area, while text should be kept in the safe zone, 0.25" inside the trim line.
- For the best output, we recommend images be 300 dpi with the original color profiles embedded in the PDF. Text should be CMYK with the fonts embedded.
- Don't include printer marks in your PDF, or lock it with a password.
- The first page in your PDF will be your front cover and the last page will be the back cover. For perfect binding, you will have the option to upload a spine file separately after your initial PDF upload.
- A 6mm 2D barcode will be added to the lower right corner of your back cover (last page of the PDF). You can see a preview of this after uploading your PDF.
