According to a comparative analysis done by Eurostat, electricity and gas prices in Portugal are the highest in Europe. The cost of living in the Southern European state is also one of the highest when taking into account the purchasing power parity (PPP) of the country. Measured in Euros, the average price for Portuguese consumers was 21.3, compared to 20.1 by the rest of the continent.
