The English Regency era, or the period of time between 1800 and 1830 in England, was one of remarkable artistic and cultural innovation. The movements of Neoclassicism and Romanticism brought fresh, new styles of architecture, fashion, art, and writing—styles that are still admired today. This module explores the major movements of the Regency with poems from the major second-generation Romantic poets and artwork by period painters John Constable and Thomas Lawrence. The articles and activities for this module provide further context for the selections and explore everyday life during the Regency.
