For over a century, Oklahomans have driven American culture from the shadows. Through the hardest of hardboiled writers to the most bitter sweet of troubadours, Oklahomans have defined and redefined the American mystique with lurid elegance. Some view Oklahoma as the heart of a one-dimensional heartland. Others know Oklahoma as something more – a fly in the ointment of the American ethos. But most will agree that Oklahoma is an alluring enigma – a paradox of extremes, and a nexus of peoples' culture. With an eye on the crooked grin swagger of Will Rogers, the grit and grace of Woody Guthrie, and the busted-lip poetry of Jim Thompson, 46M has been launched to become the proud purveyor of that culture.
