John Henry died with a hammer in his hand fighting machines. We used them to make a magazine that peers into the unseen spaces of the world around us: dreams, pubes, municipal charities, buildings, entrails, and the human heart.

Volunteers, all students at Wesleyan University, some who had no previous experience, came together to create this project over the course of two days. The idea was to use the severe time constraint to induce creative frenzy. This publication is the result.

Last time our theme was “Untold Stories.” This year it is “Inside Out.”

At noon on Friday, February 1st, 2013, we announced the theme, along with pertinent prompts and suggestions. Over the following twelve hours, we received a diverse and extensive range of submissions. Volunteers manned and womanned a table all day in the Usdan Center, collecting short inside out tidbits from passersby. You will find the results of this endeavor scattered throughout these pages.
