Food Photos: Breakfast

The seeds of this project began in the summer of 2006, when I started to photograph my meals while biking through Umbria and Southwest France. Upon my return, I continued to take photographs of my meals in earnest. By July 2008 the photographs reached the form you see here - three or four sequential photos of the meal as it's consumed, printed life-size. In the late summer, my homegrown tomatoes were almost always the star of the photos. As winter approached new stars appeared - apples, soup, pasta, forks, chopsticks. At first, all the photos where taken on my bare oak table. In August, white backgrounds started to appear. And, in November, colored backgrounds were added.
