Past Portraits - ISBN 978-1-9995258-0-4

This book represents a unique milestone in my long relationship with photography. Never before have I produced a book containing a collection of previously unpublished photos that are over four decades old or asked someone to collaborate on a project that combined my photographs with their creative writing. Although each image has a story to tell, I think Lea's words find their own way. They have taken on a life of their own after sounding themselves out to elements of my photographs. As Stacey Ashworth writes in the books' Introduction, "Past Portraits captures the space in between; the space where we’re living our perfection. Through David’s photos from Vancouver in the early 1970s, and the words written by Lea over 40 years later, the two magically cup that time where humans are present, themselves."
